Local goodies

Last weekend, hubby and I went cycling around Newmarket, a town north of Toronto. The bike ride began and ended at the local farmers’ market, which was quite a site. LOTS of vendors and very interesting stuff. I couldn’t really buy much since we had to cycle home and space was limited in our paniers but I snatched the above. I’m a sucker for specialty oils, jams, preserves… So I came home with chili oil, basil-infused oil. hot pickled asparagus, and raspberry jam. The asparagus was particularly good and inspired me to try making a Brazilian pickle that I love and which I have missed for a while: pickled small potatoes. Stay tuned for a post about it.
