It was only after I began to shop at Farmers’ market and buying local produce that I began to understand a bit more what food activists were complaining about when they talked about the loss of biodiversity that the current centralization of agriculture in the hands of fewer corporate farms, who buy their seeds from [...]  The aesthetics of food is something that really appreciate. The photographer in me is always attentive to the light, or the colour, texture, or shape of particular foods. So I took one bite of a small slice of bread on which I had put some of my own antipasto and a slice of Dubliner cheese [...] I’ll post the recipes later but here’s what I had for lunch today after the visit to a local farmers’ market: and dessert was Kefir topped with peaches, cherries, almost slivers, and maple syrup… This was lunch yesterday. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the colours were, particularly in contrast with the blue bowl. I love food. I wouldn’t pay $200 on a pair of shoes or some fancy perfume but I would happily pay that much for a gourmet meal. As Alan would say, good food is very important to me and because I like eating nice food, prepared with fresh ingredients, I also like to cook. Tonight [...] |
