What is mató?About this blog title
![]() Photo by clkao - http://www.flickr.com/photos/clkao/ Mató: a fresh cheese typical of Catalonia, in north-eastern Spain. Made without any salt, it is often eaten as a dessert, accompanied with honey. This popular dessert is known as mel i mató (pronounced mahto with a stress on the last syllable) in Catalan and one of the best places in Barcelona to try it is Granja Viader, just east of the Ramblas. Maple Syrup: made out of the sap of Maple trees, it is one of the most characteristic food products from Canada. Since Catalonia and Canada are the places where I learned to appreciate food, there couldn’t be a more appropriate title for this blog. |
